MOTORSPORT AT KILLARNEY UNDER THE COVID-19 REGULATIONS
In terms of MSA General Circular 6 of 2020 (https://eolstoragewe.blob.core.windows.net/wm-553616-cmsimages/MSAGeneralCircular6of2020.pdf) MSA-sanctioned motorsports events are permitted, subject to severe restrictions and requirements, including a strict limit on the number of persons allowed at Killarney on Race Days and a total ban on spectators.
The MSA restrictions also do not permit the opening of bomas or viewing plots on Race Days.
However, the Club has partnered with a broadcast channel to live-stream events at the circuit whenever possible, so you can catch all the on-track action – live, uncut and unedited – from the safety of your home.
SO HOW DOES IT WORK?
A register is compiled before each event and only those on the register are allowed to enter the facility, and then only after temperature screening, a Declaration of Health and compliance with MSA protocols, including the compulsory wearing of masks at all times and strict sanitising procedures.
All persons entering the premises will be asked to have their temperature taken with a no-contact, infrared thermometer. If you refuse to have your temperature taken, or your temperature is above 37.5 degrees C, or if the information you provide in your Declaration is contrary to the regulated safety measures, you will be refused access.
Bearing in mind that the pandemic is by no means over, we must be seen to be 100 percent Covid-19 compliant, to prevent any risk of further events not being permitted at the circuit.
WHAT ABOUT TESTING AND CIRCUIT HIRE?
Testing at Killarney is permitted is terms of the SA Government’s Emergency Automotive Industry Regulations.
The Killarney Main Circuit is available to hire for testing on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Contact Rhonette Rossouw at email@example.com for more information and to book your slot.
CAN WPMC MEMBERS USE THEIR GARAGES AND WORKSHOPS?
WPMC members who have garages and workshops at Killarney may their premises daily (Monday to Sunday) between 9:00am and 5:00pm to work on their race vehicles. Wearing of face masks covering the nose and mouth at all times is required and compliance with the questions and tests at the entrance is essential, including advising security which garage is being visited. To comply with social distancing requirements, no more than two people are allowed in a single-car garage; this number will naturally increase for double garages. Social gatherings in garages are not permitted. Please remember that if you want to access your garage or workshop on a Race Day or official practice day, you need to be on the register even if you’re not racing. Please notify the WPMC admin office at least three working days in advance to be included on the register.
WE THANK OUR MEMBERS, OUR SPONSORS, OUR STAFF AND OUR EXTENDED FAMILY OF KILLARNEY MOTORSPORT FANS FOR THEIR UNWAVERING SUPPORT IN THIS VERY DIFFICULT TIME.
