CATCH A RIDE WITH A CLASSIC TRACTOR AT THE KILLARNEY MOTOR SHOW POWERED BY Kfm 94.5

One of the more unexpected highlights of the 2018 Killarney Motor Show powered by Kfm 94.5, at the Killarney International Raceway on Sunday 4 November, will be a display of tractors by the Western Province Antique Tractor & Engine Club.

Some of these machines date from the 1930s; they carry time-honoured names such as Ferguson (known among local farmers as ‘Vaaljapies’), John Deere, Allis Chalmers, Case, Holder, and even Deutz. On display at the show will be a single-cylinder and a twin-cylinder Deutz – each already a prize-winner at a national tractor show – as well as the only Lanz Bulldog crawler in South Africa, and two custom-built V8-engined monsters.

However, don’t expect a static display of museum pieces. Tractors are working machines and these ones will be working throughout the day; pulling trailers loaded with spectators around the display area and, in the case of  the V8s, pulling against each other!

The clutch on a tractor has to transmit enormous torque, so it’s more like an on/off switch than a car or motorcycle clutch (making tractor tug-o-war a more exciting and unpredictable contest than you’d think) requiring considerable skill on the part of the drivers.

What little boy hasn’t always wanted to get up close and personal with fire-fighters and their fire engines? Well, here’s your chance.

The Helderberg Fire Watch will be displaying their big Iveco fire engine – as well as a one-ton SKID vehicle – with a crew of seven to answer your questions and show you how everything works. They’ll also be treating the younger kiddies to a jumping castle while their dads get a closer look at how real fire-fighting is done.

The Cape’s biggest and most hands-on motor show offers test drives in new cars, rides on new dual-purpose motorcycles at the Adventure City off-road area (or get down and dirty on your own bike) and rides in new Isuzu vehicles on the Reeds 4×4 Track.

There will be breath-taking motorcycle stunts and Freestyle Motocross, a drifting display by SA champion Jason Webb, model aircraft displays live bands and stalls selling automotive memorabilia, car bling, accessories and scale models, live bands, snake shows, a fun fair and no fewer than five food courts offering a huge variety of food and liquid refreshment.

The Killarney Motor Show powered by Kfm 94.5 will open from 10am to 5pm on Sunday 4 November. Book at Computicket (https://online.computicket.com/web/event/killarney_motor_show/1261761387/604118204) or pay at the gate; entry is R100 for adults, R50 for Scholars under 16 and free for children under 12.
