HEAVY RAIN FORECAST FORCES STREET MANIA TO MOVE
Due to forecasts of heavy rain on Friday 25 June, Street Mania 2 has been moved to the evening of Wednesday 30 June.
Despite the challenges thrown at us by the re-imposition of Level 3 Covid-19 restrictions and midwinter Cape weather at its nastiest, we are not giving up. We’re still striving to provide our street-racing family with the best possible opportunities to burn rubber and race in a safe, controlled environment.
The forced date change has also enabled us to re-negotiate the rules with our joint presenters, RaceSA, Razor Custom Car Show, GHC Spin Outlaws, GHC Drift Outlaws and the City of Cape Town, to create a more enjoyable event for participants while still observing the limits of the Level 3 Covid-19 restrictions.
To stay within the time constraints imposed by the 10:00pm curfew the Street2Strip component of the event has been changed to a #RobotRacing format, which will enable us to run from 6:30pm until 9:00pm, rather than 8:30pm.
Entries have been limited to 40 each for the #RobotRacing and Spinning components of the event – but this also includes one crew member per entry for both components.
Please note that NO SPECTATORS WILL BE ALLOWED for either portion of the event.
The regular Wednesday evening Power Series vehicle testing session has been moved half an hour earlier than usual to accommodate the Spinning component of Street Mania 2, which will run from 5:30pm to 9:00pm.
The entry fee for both components remains unchanged at R230 for Western Province Motor Club members and R300 for non-members, but now includes one crew member per entry for both components. The closing date for entries has also been extended to 5:00pm on Friday 25 June – or earlier if all the slots are full – and due to Covid-19 restrictions no late entries can be accepted, so contact Terri Philander right now at terri@wpmc.co.za for documentation.
