KILLARNEY INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY AND COVID-19 LOCK DOWN
Killarney International Raceway and the Western Province Motor Club support the 21-day total lock down of South Africa to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus. As part of this lock down, individuals are restricted from leaving their homes after midnight on Thursday 26 March until midnight on Thursday 16 April.
Killarney will therefore be shut down from close of business on Thursday March 26 until the morning of Friday 17 April.
Further posts will follow in due course with regard to the re-opening of the facility.
ACCESS TO KILLARNEY
Due to the restriction on movement, access to the facility other than for an extreme emergency, will not be possible during this period; this includes bomas, garages, offices and workshops.
The existing security service will continue, along with additional measures.
CLUBHOUSE AND TRACK USAGE SUSPENDED
To enable full preparation for the closure, the following will be implemented:
– The New Pits Lounge will cease trading at 6:00pm on Tuesday 24 March.
– Wednesday 25 March: The circuit is open for hire during the day and the final testing session will be from 4:30pm to 5.30pm, after which the circuit will be open for member cycling until 7:00pm.
– No testing/cycling sessions on Thursday 26 March in preparation for lock down.
We call on all Club members and motorsport enthusiasts to be responsible and to comply with government directives.
Stay home, wash your hands frequently, take necessary precautions and we look forward to welcoming you all back to Killarney in due course.
We thank our members, our sponsors, our staff and the extended family of Killarney motorsport fans for their unwavering support in this very difficult time.
