MEETING TO MAP OUT THE WAY FORWARD FOR DRAG RACING AT KILLARNEY

The chairman of the Drag Racing section of the Western Province Motor Club, Phil Herholdt, has called a meeting of all MSA Drag Racing competitors to map out the way forward for Drag Racing at Killarney, to be held in the main hall of the WPMC clubhouse at Killarney on Wednesday 26 May at 7:00 for 7:30pm.

So far in 2021, WPMC has organised three MSA Drag Racing events. The first, on 6 March, attracted a grand total of seven competitors at the new, lower entry fees, and was downgraded to a Street2Strip event. The second, on 27 March, received 51 entries, and was run successfully, while the third, on 27 April, received only nine entries and was cancelled.

Each event has direct expenses that need to be covered and, without spectators, these expenses have to be covered by entry fees. Killarney has reviewed all direct costs and reduced them where possible.

Killarney wants MSA Drag Racing to continue, and at the most recent meeting of the WPMC Sporting Committee, Phil Herholdt was mandated to meet with the MSA Drag Racing competitors to map out the way forward for MSA Drag Racing events at Killarney.

Covid-19 protocols will apply. To aid logistics and planning, if you are attending the meeting, please reply to Terri Philander at terri@wpmc.co.za by close of business on Tuesday 25 May.
