07 Aug RACE REVIEW – WILD ROSE GIN 100KM CHALLENGE – 29 JULY 2023
JOUBERT IN CONTROL AT WILD ROSE GIN 100km CHALLENGE

Dawie Joubert delivered a smooth and controlled drive in the Moneyline 991 under difficult conditions to win the Wild Rose 100km Challenge at Round 7 of the Power Series presented by Wingfield Motors and Smile 90.4 FM at Killarney on Saturday 29 July.
The race, shortened to 20 laps or 65.34 kilometres due to a depleted field, came down to a three-way battle between Joubert,
Gary Kieswetter’s Advanced Packaging Technology GT3 Cup and Francis Carruthers in the Harp Motorsport Pilbeam MP84.
Joubert came off pole into the lead, with Carruthers, Divan Luzmore (GT Clubsport 350Z) and Kieswetter in pursuit. By the end of lap two, however, the grey Porsche was up to third and a lap later he moved past Carruthers to slot into second.
Nevertheless, veteran Carruthers wasn’t giving away anything; while Joubert controlled the race from the front to keep a safe distance between himself and the battle for second, Carruthers was piling on the coals to close in on Kieswetter. The two finished in that order, six seconds behind Joubert but just 0.121sec apart after 20 laps of intense racing.
Fourth, a lap down, was Luzmore, followed by Emile Botha (Precision Wealth 350Z), Maarten Prins in his Porsche GT3 Cup, Siemon Penev’s Nissan 350Z and Martin Pugh in the Appleberry CanAm.
