20 Mar RIP Eddie Jordan

Some terribly sad news this morning – Eddie Jordan has passed away at the age of 76 after a battle with cancer.
Jordan announced in December that he had been receiving treatment for bladder and prostate cancer, which had spread to his pelvis & spine earlier in 2024.
Known best to the younger generation as the host of the Formula For Success podcast alongside David Coulthard, Eddie was perviously a racer in his own right and more prominently an accomplished team owner through the F1 feeder series and into F1 itself in the early 1990s – giving Michael Schumacher his break in at the top table.
Eddie raced in karts, Formula Ford, Formula Atlantic, F3 and briefly in F2 having recovered from a shattered left leg in 1976.
After a little testing for McLaren and racing in the 1981 24 Heures du Mans once he set up Eddie Jordan Racing, going on to enjoy success in F3 and F3000 with the likes of David Leslie, David Sears, James Weaver, Martin Brundle, Martin Donnelly, Johnny Herbert & Jean Alesi.
Between 1991 (a year in which he a made a guest appearance in the Dunlop Rover 216 GTI Challenge in support of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone) and 2004 his team raced in F1 as the Jordan F1 Team, famously giving Schumacher his debut.
Eddie’s team competed in 250 Grands Prix, often punching above it’s weight, winning 4 times with Damon Hill, Giancarlo Fisichella & Heinz-Harald Frentzen while the likes of Nick Heidfeld, Takuma Sato, Rubens Barrichello, Jarno Trulli & Eddie Irvine also raced for the team.
After many struggles, the team was sold to the Midland Group in 2005 and became MF1 in 2006.
In 2007 it exchanged hands again as Spyker F1 before another sale 2 years later, becoming Force India, then Racing Point before the acquisition by Aston Martin.
Eddie latterly worked as an F1 pundit & manager, notably to Adrian Newey.
A larger than life character, straight talking, no nonsense, and colourful – the likes of whom we’re unlikely to see again.
Our love and strength go to all those close to Mr. Jordan at this difficulty time.
Rest In Peace, Eddie
