Short Circuit

Short Circuit Racing – or Half Main Racing is a popular and very successful form of motorsport enjoyed by huge numbers of competitors and run across the entire motorsport world. Essentially it is an affordable way to enter motor racing for a competitor. It is also a fantastic way for the spectators to enjoy the racing as the entire race track can be seen from any vantage point. We cater for all forms of motorsport with something to suit everyone’s ability and taste. Young and old, be you a novice learning from the older experienced competitors or a seasoned decorated participant. We often have over 50 competitors on any given race day and a handful of female participants.

 

WPMC Short Circuit features six exciting championship classes and we use Killarney International Raceway’s half main as our home track. We race this circuit in both a clockwise and anti-clockwise direction.The WPMC Short Circuit Club Championship unfolds over the course of a year, featuring between six and eight thrilling events at the renowned Killarney International Raceway. Each event comprises three heats for each class , with points awarded at each event. Finally, at the year-end prize-giving ceremony, a deserving champion is declared. We pride ourselves in creating a friendly, relaxed, safe and fun racing environment that is affordable to all.

 

All categories race on the same track and on the same day. With have three heats per category and a qualifying session. This makes for exciting racing and non-stop action. Our Classes:

 

  • Mini Moto – This class is open to all competitors 4 years old and younger than 8 and they ride on a 50cc automatic motorcycle.

 

  • NSF100 – This class is open to all competitors 6 years old and younger than 13. They compete on a Honda NSF100 motorcycle as supplied by the organisers.

 

  • 125cc Junior – This class is open to all competitors 11 years old and younger than 18.  They compete on 125cc 4-stroke motorcycles.

 

  • 125cc Senior – This class is open to all competitors 18 years and older. They compete on 125cc 4-stroke motorcycles.

 

  • 150cc Senior – This class is open to all competitors 16 years old and older. They compete on 150cc 4-stroke motorcycles.

 

  • 150cc Masters – This class is open to all competitors 50 years and older. They compete on 150cc 4-stroke motorcycles.

 

  • Clubsport – A combined class consisting of SSP300, Moto3, Moto4 and Super Mono Motorcycles. Competitors 15 years and older can ride in these classes.

 

  • Super Motard Junior – This class is open to all competitors 12 years old and younger than 18. They compete on 85cc / 125cc 2-Stroke or a 250cc 4-stroke motorcycles.

 

  • Super Motard Senior – This class is open to all competitors 18 years and older. They can compete on either a 2-stroke Motard with a minimum capacity of 250cc and a maximum capacity of 300cc or a Single cylinder 4 stroke Motard with a maximum of 450cc.
