RACE PREVIEW – SHORT CIRCUIT #1 – 18 FEBRUARY 2023

RACE PREVIEW – SHORT CIRCUIT #1 – 18 FEBRUARY 2023

SHORT CIRCUIT RACES ARE SHORT, SHARP AND VERY INTENSE

Round one of the 2023 Killarney Short Circuit series on the Half Main circuit from 9:00am to 1:30pm on Saturday 18 February is anything but child’s play. The 1.3 kilometre Half Main circuit has up to seven corners depending on the layout and no straights worth mentioning, so it’s hard work, even on a lightweight motorcycle.

The races are short, sharp and very intense; fitness is key, even for teenagers. But it’s also the most affordable motorcycle racing discipline in South Africa and the Grin Factor is huge – for spectators as well as competitors.

You can sit anywhere on the stands and see almost the entire circuit. The pits are also open to spectators so you can get to see the motorcycles up close and meet the riders.

Round 1 of Short Circuit forms part of a three-way Blockbuster event, followed by Rallycross on the World RX circuit from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, as well as MSA Drag Racing all day on the Drag Strip.

And the best part is that spectator tickets, from Computicket or at the gate, cost only R80 for adults, R20 for scholars under 16 and free for children under 12 – and for that you get access to all three events. Western Province Motor Club members also get in free on production of their membership book at the gate on entry.

On track action includes races for MiniMoto/PocketBikes, 125/150cc Motorcycle Juniors and Seniors, Super Motard Juniors and Seniors, as well as ClubSport – a combined category comprising SSP 300, Moto 3, Moto 4 and Supermono Motorcycles that always provides close and completely unpredictable racing.

The action is non-stop – each category gets three 10-lap races during the morning, with a new race starting every 15 minutes or so.

You are welcome bring your cooler box and gazebo, light up your skottelbraai and make a day of it; cold drinks and delicious light meals are also available from food vendors right next to the pits.
