RACE REPORT: SHORT CIRCUIT – 14 AUGUST 2021

INTENSE RACING AT KILLARNEY SHORT CIRCUIT

Roos passed Hallick for second on lap two of their second race, and overtook Blake for the lead on lap four to romp home 12 seconds clear of the field – only to be hit with a penalty for jumping the start that dropped him to fourth!

A more cautious start in Race 3 saw him move up from third to take the lead on lap two, while Blake put in the ride of the race from fourth on lap one to second on lap six, closing to less than five seconds behind Roos by the end. Third was early leader Hallick, followed by Stavro Michel and James Traill.

Matthew Vismer won all three Super Motard races but he was made to work very hard for it by Rohan Swanepoel, who led the first five laps of Race 1 and finished less than a second adrift after 10 hard laps. Race 2 was even closer, with Swanepoel just 0.15sec in arrears after a cliff-hanger chase, while Race 3 also saw them finish less than a quarter of a second apart. Nenad Veljanovic was third, at a somewhat more respectful distance, in all three races.

The Mini Moto series for riders from five years old is going from strength to strength, with eight entries on the grid and three surprise wins for rookie Caleb Boniface, followed home in each outing by Aaron Lindemann – until the latter was hit with a jump-start penalty in Race 2, promoting Christopher Bosson to second and Mia Pienaar to third.

Bosson, who is improving with every outing, in fact finished third on the road in all three races, ahead of Storm Williams in Race 1, and Pienaar in the second and third races.

Sadly, the Formula M field suffered from mechanical gremlins on the day and only two cars made it to the grid. After Darren Liebenberg had beaten Eudrich Huysamen by 1.473 seconds in Race 1 and 8.558 seconds in Race 2 they agreed to call it a day.
