RIP ANGIE PALMER

RIP ANGIE PALMER

Paul Lehmann writes:

Today we pause to honour the life of Angie Palmer, a cherished member of our Orange Army family.

Angie served as a marshal for nearly nine years. She joined us in 2010, beginning her journey in Turn 6 — the marshal’s pub — where her energy, friendliness, and willingness to help quickly made her a familiar and trusted face. From there, she moved to the track and became a dedicated flag marshal, a role she embraced with pride and commitment.

Her contributions did not go unnoticed. In 2012 she received the All-Round Support Trophy for her tireless help in T6, and in 2014 she was awarded the Most Improved Flag Marshal Trophy, a testament to her passion for learning and her determination to grow within the sport she loved.

Angie had a deep affection for motorsport. She often said she would have loved nothing more than to go around the track in a V8 — a dream that captured her spirit perfectly: enthusiastic, bold, and full of life.

She continued to marshal until 2018, before she and her husband Gary returned to England the following year. Even after leaving our shores, she remained part of our story. Angie left a mark wherever she went — friendly to all, always ready to lend a hand, and eager to guide new marshals in the art of flagging.

Angie passed away peacefully on Thursday, 29 January, due to medical complications. She leaves behind her husband Gary, three sons, four grandchildren, one brother, and four sisters. She was also an aunt to our fellow marshals Maree, Martin, and Zoe. To all of them, we extend our deepest sympathy and strength.

Angie, your Orange Army family will miss you. Your kindness, your dedication, and your spirit will remain part of our track forever. May you rest in peace.
