13 Nov RIP PHAKAMILE ‘ZULU’ MASENTSE

It was with a deep sense of loss that we learned of the passing on Phakamile Masentse – known to all at Killarney as ‘Zulu’, on Tuesday 11 November, the day after his 56th birthday.
A quiet man who kept mostly to himself, Zulu was a valued member of the Killarney maintenance team for more than 30 years, a familiar sight around the facility and, with his characteristic rolling gait, instantly recognisable at a distance.
Although a very private man, Zulu was highly respected and well-liked by all who worked with him, known for his diligence and dedication to his work. English poet John Donne wrote that ‘No man is an island.’ Zulu’s solitary passing is a poignant reminder that some are, and they shouldn’t be.
Our condolences go out to his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time; he will not be forgotten.
