WINGFIELD MOTORS RE-AFFIRMS 2020 POWER SERIES SPONSORSHIP

With racing set to resume at Killarney International Raceway in little more than a week, Wingfield Motors has re-affirmed its sponsorship of the regional Power Series.

This family-owned and run local business has been the title sponsor of the Power Series for the past eight seasons, and has continued its unwavering support throughout 2020 despite the severely reduced number of events and the total ban on spectators arising from the government’s efforts to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus in South Africa.

“We are not just fair-weather sponsors,” says CEO John van Niekerk. “It’s really tough out there but we beat Corona Virus as far as sponsorship goes in these extraordinary times and still came to the party.“

Main Circuit racing returns to Killarney International Raceway on Saturday 29 August with a partial Power Series event sponsored by Wingfield Motors for Clubmans, the GTi Challenge, Sports & GT cars, Formula Libre and Powersport Motorcycles – even though there will be no spectators to see the sponsor’s banners bravely flying.

The slimmed down programme is to allow for delays caused by the Covid-19 health and safety protocols but the rest of the Power Series categories – the V8 Masters, Supercars, Superbikes, Clubman Motorcycles and the Classic and Fine Cars – will get their chance to dance on Saturday 12 September.

We thank John and his team for supporting racing at Killarney even when nobody knew when it would resume. If you’re a member of the Killarney family in the market for a new or used vehicle, please support the sponsor who supports the racing you love. “Give me and my great team a fighting chance,” says John, “to wow you with our 30 years of customer-centric service of excellence.”
